SITOUT FOR CHARITIES
The annual Christmas Sitout for Charities begins on Monday 20th
December at 10.30pm and ends on Friday 24th December at 6.00pm.
The aim is to collect more than last year's total - £210,000.
As usual, the Dean will be assisted by the Chapter Canons. They take
it in turns to stand with him.
All of the money goes to charities with the last day, Christmas Eve,
going to Christian aid. There are no deductions for expenses.
MILLENNIUM SERVICES
On Friday 31st December in St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast, there will
be two services, both expected to draw about 1000 people.
8.00 p.m. - An Inter-church Carol Service before which
the Millennium Candle will be lit by Monsignor Tom Toner and Dean Jack
Shearer.
11.30 p.m. - A Midnight Eucharist at which the preacher will be the
Archbishop of Armagh.
Collections at both services will be for Christian Aid. A cheque will
be presented during the offertory at the 11.30 p.m. to Christian Aid and
it is hoped this (augmented by the Sitout collection) will be at least
£60,000.
If clergy from other parishes are coming to the 11.30 p.m. service
please robe and help with a very large number of communicants.
Any coming to both services are welcome to join us in the hall after
the 8.00 p.m. service for mulled wine and shortbread.
