And is it True? - a new book by the Bishop of Meath
and Kildare.
Bishop Richard Clarke's new book, and is it True? Truth, God and
No-Man's Land, has recently been published by Dominican Publications.
It is a book about faith, and about the need to search for faith with
ruthless honesty, daring to take risks in the process. Utilising the
metaphor of no-mans' land as a place of vulnerability where truth and God
are to be found, Bishop Clarke calls his readers away from the
entrenchment of facile certainties.
From reviews of and is it True?:
'For my money Bishop Clarke is a new kind of bishop… The believing
Christian will be called by this book to attempt theology, to commit
himself to Scripture, Tradition and Reason to undergird his
twentieth-century faith. Man the searcher will be confronted here with the
mystery of God as he lives in the midst of unbelief.' Donal Flanagan
'There is a future for the church that Richard Clarke envisages and
values.' Andrew Furlong
'It is quite some time since I have enjoyed a book as stimulating,
challenging and intellectually satisfying as this.' Seán Fagan
And is it True? costs £7.99. It is available from Dominican
Publications in Dublin, and from other bookshops, including APCK
and the Sunday School Society for Ireland. ISBN 1-871552-75-3
