|As part of the 125th celebrations of the Mothers' Union, a
"pod" containing the Objects, MU Prayer and other items is
currently on a Journey of Hope through each of the dioceses in CWISY
(Canterbury, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and York).
The pod will be brought to Ireland on Friday 20th July by members from
Bangor Diocese who are due to arrive on the HSS at Dun Laoghaire at 10.40
a.m. A colourful welcome is planned by members from Dublin and
Glendalough. On Saturday 21st the Journey travels via Glendalough to
Aughrim (Co Wicklow) where the pod will be handed over to members from
Cashel and Ossory for their diocesan event in the JF Kennedy Park on
An outline itinerary of the Journey is on http://www.mothersunion.ie/whatwedo.html
A variety of events and modes of transport for the pod are planned as
it travels through the dioceses. It is due to leave from Connor Diocese
for Glasgow and Galloway by plane on Tuesday 14th August.
Whether in your home diocese or on holiday, look out for the MU pod on
its Journey of Hope.
Coincidentally, Mary Sumner, who founded the Mothers' Union in 1876,
visited Ireland in July 1901 and met members in Dublin, Kilkenny,
Waterford, Cappoquin and Killarney. Reports of some of the meetings
appeared in the C of I Gazette of 2nd August 1901.
