| PR09/99 Friday 16 April 1999
The Bishops' Appeal of the Church of Ireland has released £10,000 as
an immediate response to the situation in the Balkans at the request of
the two Archbishops.
We feel that as the gravity of the humanitarian situation increases
our parishioners would welcome an opportunity to respond to a special
appeal at this time thus enabling further amounts to be sent to the aid
agencies on behalf of the Church of Ireland.
We therefore request that special collections should be organised in
all our parishes on Sunday, 25 April and the proceeds
sent without delay to the Secretary, Bishops'Appeal, c/o Representative
Church Body, Church House, The Royal Hospital, Bloomfield Avenue, off
Morehampton Road, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
We would stress that this is a special appeal and it
is hoped that parishes will continue to support the Bishops' Appeal in
its world development work on a regular basis.
