A Church of Ireland spokesman tonight said that Archbishop Eames had received a response from Portadown District Loyal Orange Lodge No. 1 which included:

"At the conclusion of the Service [in Drumcree parish church], the District Master and Officers only will lead the District Lodge down to the bridge where a protest letter will be delivered to the officer in charge. Following an address by the District Master, the Parade will dismiss."
