ARCHBISHOP EAMES CONDEMNS ATTACK
ON HARRYVILLE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

Tuesday 18 July 2000

"I have been appalled to learn of a further attack on a Roman Catholic Church this morning. The attempt to burn the church at Harryville is one more example of the sectarian hatred which is being encouraged by a minority in our country, and on behalf of the Church of Ireland I condemn utterly this attack.

"Attacks on any church or building associated with any tradition must be condemned at this time.

I have asked the Archdeacon of Connor, in the absence of the Bishop of Connor, who is on holiday, to convey my feelings to Bishop Walsh."
