| The Revd Bernadette (Bernie) Daly, B.Th., curate-assistant of Taney
Parish (Dublin) and Chancellor's Vicar in St Patrick's Cathedral
(Dublin), has been appointed to succeed the Revd Jeremy Young as
Director of Pastoral Studies at the Church of Ireland Theological
College.
Bernie Daly was ordained as a mature ordinand, and brings to her
ministry much experience and expertise from the fields of law and
publishing, from her work as a member of the Ethics Committee of the
North Eastern Health Board, and from her long involvement with the Irish
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, of which she has been
vice-chair.
As the Director of Pastoral Studies, she will coordinate and share in
the teaching of a wide pastoral programme for those preparing for
ordination at the College. The current programme includes training in
preaching, pastoral counselling, hospital work, youth work, education,
social issues, and direct experience of parish and social work. The
Director of Pastoral Studies enlists the help and cooperation of
rectors, hospitals, schools, the Church of Ireland Youth Council and
various social agencies.
This appointment completes the full-time staff of the College, which
with the Director of Pastoral Studies, comprises the Chaplain-Tutor (the
Revd Kevin Moroney), the Lecturer in Church History and Theology (Dr
Andrew Pierce), the Vice-Principal (the Revd Dr Billy Marshall) and the
Principal (the Revd Professor John Bartlett. |
