At a meeting of the Diocesan Council of Armagh on 4 September 2000 the following Resolution was passed unanimously.

"The Diocesan Council of Armagh at it's first meeting of the Winter session viewed with deep concern the events prior to and after the service at Drumcree on Sunday, 9 July 2000.

"It was particularly saddened that the District Master of Portadown District LOL No 1 refused to condemn the violence or dissociate the protest from paramilitary involvement.

"The Council urges that a renewed effort be made to find a resolution to this problem which annually brings shame on the name of Christ and His Church in the eyes of the world."
