A new web-site highlighting the work of The Church of Ireland General
Synod has been launched today. The web-site, which can be found at http://synod.ireland.anglican.org,
will be updated during the General Synod which takes place from 15 - 17
May in the Waterfront Hall, Belfast.
The new web-site complements the existing Church of Ireland web-site
at http://www.ireland.anglican.org
which currently receives over 25,000 visitors each year. The Chairman of
the Church's Internet Committee, Archdeacon Raymond Hoey, has encouraged
people to visit the new web-site to find out more about the work of
General Synod.
"The Church has embraced the new technological age and is making
excellent use of the Internet as this new web-site demonstrates. The new
web-site includes a full set of reports that are to be debated at this
year's General Synod, giving members of the Church throughout Ireland
and beyond and those with an interest in our work the opportunity to
follow our annual meeting."
The Web-site will be updated daily with reports on proceedings, press
releases and speeches accompanied by photographs and audio feeds. There
is also an on-line media centre providing contact details and
information for journalists along with links to major media web-sites.
