SUPPLEMENTAL AGENDA - THURSDAY 20th MAY 1999
MOTION
(Peace in Kosovo)
REV CANON WA LEWIS AND
MRS A WILLS
Mindful of our history of inter-communal and political
violence, hostility and mistrust in Ireland,
- and of its tragic, destructive and lasting divisive
consequences,
- and affirming the effectiveness of resolving
conflict by democratic, peaceful methods,
- in solidarity with the Churches of Yugoslavia,
- we call for an immediate end to the NATO bombing of
Yugoslavia,
- and to the killing, inter-ethnic violence and
forced exodus of people in Kosovo,
- and the intensification of diplomatic negotiations,
involving the Churches and religious bodies in Yugoslavia,
- to open up a humanitarian corridor into Kosovo
immediately,
- and to establish peace and security in Kosovo so
that all displaced persons may return to their homes.

- That in lines 6 and 7 the words "to the NATO bombing in
Yugoslavia, and" be deleted.
- That in lines 10 and 11 the words "to open up a humanitarian
corridor into Kosovo immediately, and" be deleted.
- That in the last line the following words be added "and live
free from fear."
