The Church of Ireland Theological College Council, on behalf of the House of Bishops, is pleased to announce the appointment of
the Revd Dr Alexander Jensen as Lecturer in Divinity.
Dr Jensen, who was appointed by a board of nomination jointly representing the Theological College Council and Trinity College, is a specialist in systematic theology and liturgy.
Born in Germany in 1968, Dr Jensen was educated at Tübingen, Oxford and Durham. Ordained in the Church of England, he is currently serving as curate assistant in the parish of St Michael and All Angels, Norton, in the diocese of Durham.
As a native German speaker with a Lutheran background, Dr Jensen has been actively involved in ecumenical consultations, particularly between the Church of England and the Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland, and has participated in the most recent Meissen conference. In the context both of Meissen and Porvoo, he will bring an important dimension to the theological formation of our ordinands in the twenty-first century.
He has published an interesting article in the current issue of Contact: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Pastoral
Studies, on the subject of Martin Luther’s “Sin boldly” concept in the context of modern pastoral psychology.
Dr Jensen is a keen connoisseur of classical music, plays the cello, and enjoys hill-walking. He is also an accomplished cook and member of the Wine Society.
