The Diocesan project to support the Oloosuyian Girl’s
Secondary School in the Diocese of Kajiado, Kenya, through the Bishop’s Appeal
and CMS, will be launched at the TKA Diocesan Schools’ Service in St Mary’s
Cathedral, Tuam on 22nd November 2012 at 11:30am. During the service
Lydia Monds, Education Advisor of Bishops’ Appeal, will outline the Church of Ireland’s
mission to Kenya.
Our project, MAasai beds for Women in EducatioN or ‘MabWeNI’ (Swahili for ‘school dormitory’) is to help the Maasai peoples develop a secondary school for their daughters, The MAbWeNI Project will be launched immediately after the service with a symbolic ‘Potty Walk’ around St Mary’s to emphasize the need for sanitation and its importance as a fundamental service required by any school.
An Advent Jam Jar collection will also be launched in which we are asking the parishes and the schools to save spare coppers in labelled jam jars during Advent to help fund the sanitation block.
