Archbishop of Dublin Announces New Electoral College for Meath and Kildare

Press Releases

Added on 02/05/2013

Statement by The Most Revd Dr Michael Jackson:

‘Following the Ven Leslie Stevenson’s decision to decline the post of Bishop of Meath and Kildare, the Church of Ireland has found itself in an entirely new situation. Consequently the Church is trying to address that situation coherently and compassionately.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been affected by these events. Everyone is conscious that this is a most sensitive and painful time for all involved.

‘The Church at the same time takes seriously its responsibility to the people and clergy of the Diocese of Meath and Kildare and the wider Church of Ireland community who have also been shocked and hurt by events.

‘To that end and in order to progress matters, a new Electoral College has now been called and is scheduled to take place on 28 May 2013 in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin.’
