The Archbishop of Armagh, the Most Revd Dr Richard Clarke, joined with the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Justin Welby, to meet the First Minister of Northern Ireland, Arlene Foster MLA, in Belfast yesterday prior to the annual Church of Ireland Theological lecture at Queen’s University.
Archbishop Welby delivered the lecture on the theme of reconciliation. Mrs Foster, a member of the Church of Ireland, became First Minister at the start of January, having been elected as leader of the Democratic Unionist Party in December.
The Archbishop was welcomed to Parliament Buildings by the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Mitchel McLaughlin MLA, and met briefly with the Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness MLA.
