The Second Sunday after Trinity
The Sunday between 26 June and 2 July Year A

Collect One

O Lord,
who never failest to help and govern them
whom thou dost bring up in thy steadfast fear and love;
Keep us, we beseech thee,
under the protection of thy good providence,
and make us to have a perpetual fear and love of thy holy Name;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Collect Two

Lord, you have taught us
that all our doings without love are nothing worth:
Send your Holy Spirit
and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love,
the true bond of peace and of all virtues,
without which whoever lives is counted dead before you.
Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ’s sake.

The First Reading - Genesis 22: 1-14 or Jeremiah 28:5-9

The Psalm - Psalm 13 or Psalm 89: 1-4, 15-18

The Second Reading - Romans 6: 12-23

Post Communion Prayer

Loving Father,
we thank you for feeding us at the supper of your Son.
Sustain us with your Spirit,
that we may serve you here on earth
until our joy is complete in heaven,
and we share in the eternal banquet
with Jesus Christ our Lord.

Saint Peter Year A

Collect One

O almighty God,
who by thy Son Jesus Christ didst give
to thy apostle Saint Peter many excellent gifts,
and commandedst him earnestly to feed thy flock;
Make, we beseech thee, all bishops and pastors
diligently to preach thy holy Word,
and the people obediently to follow the same,
that they may receive the crown of everlasting glory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Collect Two

Almighty God,
who inspired your apostle Saint Peter
to confess Jesus as Christ and Son of the living God:
Build up your Church upon this rock,
that in unity and peace it may proclaim one truth
and follow one Lord, your Son our Saviour Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

The First Reading - Ezekiel 3: 22-27

The Psalm - Psalm 125

The Second Reading - Acts 12: 1-11

The Gospel Reading - Matthew 16: 13-19

Post Communion Prayer

Heavenly Father,
ever renew the life of your Church
by the power of this sacrament.
Keep us united in your love
through the teaching of the apostles and the breaking of bread,
in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord.
