A short memoir of the life of Ellen Hutchins (1785–1815) who became Ireland’s first female botanist, which is in the custody of the Representative Church Body Library, has been digitized and made available online as the Library’s online February Archive of the Month presentation.
The ongoing project to digitise the historical issues of the Church of Ireland Gazette has entered a new and exciting phase, with the successful uploading and indexing of this invaluable resource for the period 1911–1923.
Since 2012 and the launch of its Archive of the Month initiative, the RCB Library has been proactive in digitising and promoting lantern slides or ‘magic lanterns’. These slides consist of images from glass plates, where the photographic positive was fixed between two pieces of glass and then projected by using a lamp.
