Broadcast & online worship opportunities
The following listings of services may be helpful for those who will be unable to attend worship in person at Church of Ireland services over Christmas and the New Year period.
Christmas Day, 25th December 2020
The listings highlight broadcast services and reflections on radio and television, and online worship from each of the Church of Ireland’s dioceses, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, and St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast.
Parishioners may find it helpful to use our Daily Worship app or Book of Common Prayer service sheets which can be downloaded here for personal use.
Readers are encouraged to share details of broadcast programmes with friends, relatives and neighbours who may, in turn, find encouragement from them. These services can be especially helpful for people who do not have internet access or who may enjoy the familiar format of a radio or television programme.
On Christmas Eve, the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 between 4.00pm and 5.15pm. Later that evening, the Dublin Civic Carol Service from St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street, will be broadcast on the RTÉ News Channel, between 8.00pm and 9.00pm.
The Cork Nativity – the first commission from RTÉ for Bo Media, a young production company in Cork – is a joyous celebration of the Christmas story, brought to life in the voices of the people of Cork in all their diversity. It will be shown at 8.00pm on Christmas Eve and 9.55am on Christmas Day on RTÉ One television. Just click below and enjoy a preview.
