Bishop–Elect to act as Archbishop’s Commissary from Easter Monday

The Archbishop of Armagh has asked Bishop–Elect Ian Ellis to act as the Archbishop’s Commissary for the Diocese of Clogher, effective from 5 April 2021.

The Bishop–Elect’s consecration is planned to take place on St Mark’s Day, 26 April.

The Archbishop wishes particularly to thank Archdeacon Brian Harper who has been acting as Archbishop’s Commissary since 28 April 2020, in the context of an unusually long episcopal vacancy caused by pandemic restrictions.

“Archdeacon Harper has carried out this role with his usual efficiency and good humour and I am very grateful for his willingness to do so,” he said.

The Archbishop would also wish to thank Dean Kenny Hall who acted as Archbishop’s Commissary last summer during Archdeacon Harper’s absence.
