Death of the Rev Gordon Freeman

The death has taken place of the Rev Gordon Freeman, a former Rector of the Ardara group of parishes. Mr Freeman, who had been living in Ballycastle, passed away yesterday (Thursday) at the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine. He was ordained in the mid–90s, after a career in business, and was the incumbent in Ardara from 1998 until his retirement in 2007.

Gordon is survived by his wife Sheila, their sons Vincent and Duncan, and daughters–in–law Colleen and Gwena.

Bishop Andrew Forster has paid tribute to Mr Freeman. “Gordon had a real love for his parish in west Donegal,” the Bishop said. “He served with grace and faithfulness, and is remembered fondly by former parishioners. Sheila and their children are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.  May Gordon rest in peace and rise in glory.”
