Eight Bills Pass Final Stages at General Synod 

Eight Bills which passed their first and second stages on Day 1 of General Synod meeting in Wexford on Friday, passed their final stages and were given a third read this evening (Tuesday May 16) when Synod met online.  

Bill No 1, amending the General Vestry declaration form removing the requirement for members to fill in their address three times, was passed.  

Bill No 2, removing the requirement to affix notices of the Easter Vestry and Register of Vestry People on the church door, was passed. 

Bill No 3 fell on the first day.  

Bill No 4, relating to the provision of an email address on synod declaration forms, was passed.  

Bill No 5, relating to a change in the name of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin in the Constitution, was passed.  

Bill No 6, relating to the occasional interchangeability of ministry with the Methodist Church in Ireland, was passed.  

Bill No 7, regarding the Charities Regulator and the rearranging exercise of Chapter 17 of the Constitution, was passed.  

Bill No 8, dealing with the Clergy Defined Benefit Pension Fund, was passed.  

Bill No 9, dealing with the Defined Contribution Clergy Pension Scheme, was passed.
