The mid–summer edition of Eco Congregation’s newsletter features six Church of Ireland initiatives to care for Creation around our island:
- A school garden at Belleek Primary School (supported by church fundraising)
- Glencairn Community Garden (part of a West Belfast parish)
- Drumcliffe parish’s heat pump system in Co. Sligo
- A wildflower survey in Aughrim’s Climate Action Park and rectory garden
- Magheralin parish’s thriving garden
- the new Climate Change Policy from the Representative Church Body
Westport Eco–Congregation, which includes the local Church of Ireland parish, highlighted Plastic Free July on their Facebook page daily and the parish newsletter carried practical tips and suggestions on ways to eliminate plastic from households.
The Revd Trevor Sargent’s ecological notes suggest ways in which Zero Emissions Day (coming up on Thursday, 21st September) can help us think about our role in the environment.
