Day 2

Second Day of General Synod Begins

Day two of General Synod is underway in Armagh. There is a busy day ahead as members prepare to consider a full agenda.

The morning opened with a short time of worship led by Archdeacon Elizabeth Cairns and Archdeacon Peter Thompson.

Archbishop John McDowell sought leave from Synod members to send their greetings to Lord Eames who is in hospital in London.

Archbishop Eamon Martin, Catholic Archbishop of Armagh, brought greetings and blessings to Synod. He said that Archbishop McDowell and he had been working together closely and were aware of the importance of this.

He said that communication was at the very heart of bringing the Gospel to all nations and urged people to use all ways, including modern methods of communication such as social media and artificial intelligence, to spread the Good News.

“We have to keep remembering that we are communicating not just words but Jesus Christ our saviour,” he said adding that it was important that our communication is from the heart and humanly rich.
