Head of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church to visit Ireland
The Historic Apostolic Visit of H.H. Baselios Marthoma Mathews III to the Republic of Ireland and Malankara Orthodox Sangamam (Malankara Orthodox Assembly)
His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, the head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, will embark on a historic Apostolic visit to Ireland from 1st to 3rd June. This visit also marks the coming together of the Indian Orthodox community in Ireland and the first–ever visit of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church’s Catholicos to Ireland and to parishes across the UK and Europe.
The Apostolic visit holds immense significance aiming to foster ecumenical relations, to unite Orthodox Christians from India residing in Ireland in worship and inter faith fellowship. Ireland’s substantial Indian Orthodox Christian population, notably contributing to sectors such as healthcare, public sector, hospitality, and information technology industry, eagerly anticipates this momentous occasion.
His Holiness will lead the celebration of the Holy Qurbana (Mass) at St. Patrick’s College Chapel on 2nd June, fostering spiritual communion and unity among the faithful. Additionally, an ecumenical worship service and lunch will be hosted at Christ Church on 3rd June, providing a platform for interfaith dialogue and ecumenical cooperation.
2 June 2024 – Mass (Holy Qurbana) at Gun Chapel, St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth and followed by a public meeting.
