New Headmaster For The Royal School Cavan

Edward Lindsay has been appointed headmaster of The Royal School Cavan. He succeeds Ivan Bolton who has been a teacher in the school since the early 1970’s and headmaster for over 30 years.

Although now living in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford, Edward is a native of Cootehill, Co. Cavan. He is the son of the late Revd Cecil Lindsay and his mother the Revd Sandra Lindsay is currently in charge of the Roscommon Group of Parishes.

While educated in The King’s Hospital, Dublin, his family has long standing connections with the Royal School. Edward has taught in Kilkenny College and over the last 17 years has been teaching Maths and Business in Wilson’s Hospital. On his appointment Edward said that he "was very much looking forward to taking up his new post and to working with the staff, Board of Governors and Pupils at the Royal School. It will be a tremendous challenge for me which I will approach with an open mind, continuing on the excellent work of my predecessor”.

The Chairperson of the Board, the Bishop of Kilmore said, “We are delighted at the appointment of Mr Edward Lindsay. He will bring to the school many years of teaching experience, his involvement with Boarding Departments, local knowledge and an outstanding reputation for ability, reliability and pastoral care.
