Launch of St Bride’s Vestry Records

Last Thursday evening in St Patrick’s Deanery, the Church of Ireland Historiographer, Dr Kenneth Milne, launched the fifth volume in the RCB Library’s ‘Texts and Calendars‘ series which is published by Four Courts Press.

T

he Vestry Records of the Parishes of St Bride, St Michael Le Pole and St Stephen, Dublin, 1662–1742, which has been edited by Mr Ronnie Wallace, contains information on the parish church, clergy, patterns of worship, and the role of the parish officers and their interaction with the city in areas such as poor relief, fire–fighting and policing. It will be valuable to those who are interested in ecclesiastical history and in the dynamics of in inner–city Dublin life in the 17th and 18th centuries.
