Ash Wednesday in Tralee

A good news story from the West from before the lockdown:

This year’s season of Lent began on Ash Wednesday with an evening service in Kilgobbin and a morning service in Tralee.  The service in Tralee was a joint service with St John’s National School and Kiltallagh National School from Castlemaine.

The liturgy was a Service of the Word and it was led by the children.  Both sets of pupils were well prepared by the teachers and the staff in the respective schools. Just before we left the church, the children had an impromptu sing–a–long led by Paula Ni Bhriain from Castlemaine. Someone suggested that it would be lovely if we could so something like a concert together again at some stage in the future (fingers crossed).

The children returned to Teach an tSolais for some fun and games and meat–free pizza which was very kindly organised by David and Jackie Tough.  It was a really enjoyable experience and it demonstrated and how good it is when small groups and schools come together.
