Annual Chrism Eucharist in Cork, Cloyne and Ross

At 12 noon today – Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) – the annual Chrism Eucharist in Cork, Cloyne and Ross will go ahead this year as every year, but not as normal.

Ordinarily, people  from all over County Cork gather on this day in the Cathedral Church of Saint Fachtna, Rosscarbery, County Cork, to celebrate together, to renew their commitment to their ministry, and for the blessing of the oils used in the pastoral and sacramental aspects of that ministry.

Following the celebration of the Eucharist everyone enjoys lunch together before heading back to their own places to begin the most solemn three days – known as the Triduum – in the Church’s calendar.

This year Bishop Paul Colton has recorded the Service in the chapel in his home in Cork, with participation remotely from people around the Diocese.
