The Diocese of Down and Dromore held a cross–community service of thanksgiving and reflection in Down Cathedral on Thursday 15 September. A congregation of invited guests and members of the public filled St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, on the Hill of Armagh, to capacity on Thursday evening (15th September) for a Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The eyes of the nation were on St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, on September 13, as the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev George Davison, in the presence of King Charles III and the Queen Consort, led a moving Service of Reflection for the Life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, the Right Reverend Dr Paul Colton, has expressed sympathy, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, to fellow members of the Church of Ireland in Northern Ireland and also to British citizens living in Cork, and especially those who are members of the United Dioceses of Cork, Cloyne and Ross.
Many of those gathering for the Service of Enthronement of the Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd Dr Ian Ellis, in St Macartin’s Cathedral, Clogher, on Thursday evening learned off the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the service.
As a mark of respect, in observance of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Service of Enthronement for the Bishop of Clogher, which was to take place today (Sunday 11th September), has been postponed until Sunday 25th September 2022 at 7.00pm in St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen.
