General Synod 2020: a preview

This year’s General Synod will take place online, for the first time, using the Zoom communications platform, on Tuesday, 1st December, and Wednesday, 2nd December. This is the third ordinary meeting of the 51st General Synod and the Primate of All Ireland, Archbishop John McDowell, will preside over the meeting.

New Rector of Aghanloo instituted
“If there’s ever a time that the Church needs prayer, and spiritual leaders need prayer, it’s now,” the Rev David McBeth told the congregation in Christ Church, Limavady on Wednesday evening, at the Institution of his friend and colleague, the Rev Rhys Jones, as Rector of Aghanloo, Balteagh, Carrick and Tamlaghtard.

Appointment of new Canon of St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Cork, and St Colman’s Cathedral, Cloyne
The Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, the Right Reverend Dr Paul Colton, is pleased to announce that he has appointed the Reverend Denis MacCarthy, Incumbent of Bandon Union of Parishes, to be Prebendary of Kilbrittain and Holy Trinity in the Cathedral Church of Saint Fin Barre, Cork, and to be Prebendary of Donoughnmore in the Cathedral Church of Saint Colman, Cloyne.
