Ms Farrell, who grew up in Clogher Diocese, undertook part of her training for ordained ministry in the Diocese and had been serving as Bishop’s Curate of the Inver Group of parishes which includes Mountcharles, Inver, Killaghtee and Killybegs along the Wild Atlantic Way in the Diocese of Raphoe for the past three years before her new appointment.

Diocesan and Provincial Register appointed in Dublin

The Revd Robert Marshall has been appointed as Diocesan and Provincial Registrar, for the Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough and the Province of Dublin. He has served as Deputy Diocesan and Provincial Registrar since 2007. He succeeds the Revd Stephen Farrell who has been appointed Dean of Ossory.

Adventure day for Connor youth at Shane’s Castle

It was cold and mucky, but young people from across Connor Diocese had a fantastic experience when they visited Escarmouche Action Park at Shane’s Castle on 15th January. The event was organised by Christina Baillie, Diocesan Youth Officer, and Connor Youth Council in place of the annual residential which had been scheduled for Castlewellan Castle, but had to be cancelled due to Covid–19 restrictions.

Christian Unity Week in Douglas

To round up the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022 in Cork, Cloyne and Ross, a video was filmed in Douglas, where the Ven Adrian Wilkinson, Archdeacon of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, and Fr Pat O’Mahony talked about their ecumenical relationship.  The video features both, the Roman Catholic Church of St Columbus and the Church of Ireland Church of St Luke. In the spirit of this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the video connects our journey as Christians to the journey of the Magi to the Christ Child.

Two new canons for Kilmore Cathedral

Congratulations to Canon Ian Horner and Canon Ruth West who were installed as Prebendaries of St Fethlimidh’s Cathedral, Kilmore, last Sunday night (23rd January).

Commissioning of Connor Diocesan Readers

And congratulations also to Peter Kirch and Michael Ogilby who were commissioned as Connor Diocesan Readers on the same day, in St John’s, Ballyclare, by the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev George Davison.

Christingle celebration in Mallow Union

Not too long ago, many parishes were holding Christingle services in an atmosphere of considerable uncertainty and caution.  The Revd Meurig Williams, from the Mallow Union of Parishes, has reflected on their Christingle celebration in an article for the Cork, Cloyne and Ross website.
